This is a graph of the water and air temperature. I decided to incorporate this graph because French is the native language in Marquesas. It receives in average 2,500 to 2,900 of sunshine per year. And They don't get to much rain. |
Rats
are a very common, various medium sized rodents. there are many different types of
rats there's the Black rat, brown rats, pet rats and wild rats. A
rats lifespan is about 2-3 years.

Tropical
rain forests are unique because it has a warm climate and it rains a
lot. Each year it is estimated that it rains 120 inches. 70 to 90
percent of the island is all forest, so that is where it gets the
name Marquesas Tropical Moist Forest. I
am doing my project on the Marquesas Islands. They are located in
French Polynesia near Fiji. On the Marquesas Islands there are ten
islands: Hatutu, Eiao, Nukuhiva, Uahuka, Uapou, Hivaoa, Fatuuku,
Tahuata, Monotani and Fatuhiva. The 2002 TV show Survivor
4 was filmed on Nukuhiva. Being the number one most watched TV
show in 2002, most people think that is how people became familiar
to the islands. Some
of the plants in the Marquesas include: pandanus, banyan trees,
sugar cane, coconut palms and ti plants. Some of the fruits that
grow very well in the Marquesas are: grapefruit, mango, papaya,
vanilla, guava and banana. One
of the herbivores on the Marquesas is the pigeon. It nests mainly in
small patches of forest with tall trees. Pigeons generally eat
grains, seeds, insect and some greens. One
of the main predators on the Marquesas is the shark. In many
tropical islands there are sharks because they love warm water. Some
of the different types of sharks that live in the area are:
white-tip reef sharks, Grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks, tawny
nurse sharks, sicklefin lemon sharks, bull sharks and tiger sharks.
Reef sharks feed off of crustaceans, octopi, and various types of
fish. Larger species of sharks eat turtles, sea snakes, fish and sea
birds. The
Marquesas Islands were discovered in 1595 by the Spanish. Estimates
of the historical population of the Marquesas vary from 100,000 to
300,000 people. Today the population is less than 10,000 people with
few or no full-blooded Marquesans left because it is so small.
I
picked the Marquesas Islands for my project because I have always
wanted to visit there and because the islands are so beautiful!!!
The links below are a couple of websites that you can click on to
