Tasmania
is at 50 degrees south and 160 degrees east
Tasmania is at the very southern point of Australia. It is very easy to think that Tasmania is connected to Australia if you looked at a map from far away. Most creatures are furrier than normal there because it is mostly colder than normal.
This is the Tasmanian devil, it has a very short temper and likes to eat carrion,however sometimes they will hunt live prey. Tasmanian devils are protected but are still at risk of being endangered because of Tasmanian facial tumor disease.

In Tasmania the climate is very different from America it is colder in the summer than in the winter it can be 71degrees in the winter and 51 degrees in the summer on average the yearly rain fall is 24 inches. In the summer it is 5 inches and in spring there is 6 inches (spring has the most rainfall.)
Wombats are a marsupial that is easily tamed. It has learned to not be afraid of humans. Because wombats are not afraid of humans that means they can be aggressive to humans too. It is interesting that a creature like a wombat can attack someone, there were some attacks where they have knocked over a full sized man.

My biome is a temperate forest that has relatively no development on it. It has many unique creatures that only live on this island.
The region I am studying is Tasmania, it is off the coast of Australia. The state of Tasmania also has several small islands off the coast of Tasmania. If you were to go to Tasmania than you would see miles of mostly forest and you might see some cities but not many.
The main plant species of Tasmania is the eucalyptus tree they are very diverse and can range in size from just a shrub to a forest tree. They are also known as gum trees because of there sap, which can be used as candy and even part of a cleaning solution!
The one of the main herbivores in Tasmania is the brush tail possum, they are curious animals and will explore their surrounding that can get them hurt.
The spotted tail quoll is a predator that has spots all over its body. It hunts rats, possums, and injured wallabies.
Tasmania was discovered by abel tasman in 1642 the government is the state of commonwealth, the government will regulate its relationship with them.
Many species are protected by the government ,the state is very forested and all the cities are widely spaced out. You will mostly see forest.
The reason I chose my biome is because I like Australia. I wanted to choose a remote location. Also I wanted to choose Tasmania because it has interesting looking land scape and cool animals.
Eucalyptus trees dominate the plants in Australia. There are hundreds of species of eucalyptus. Eucalyptus is favored by koalas. Eucalyptus are mostly evergreen, the plant also flowers and has fruit. As a eucalyptus grows it will shed off entire branches. The ghost gum tree is also know as the widow maker because of the deaths caused by falling branches.
