I am married to a beautiful and intelligent woman named Mary Cay, who is also a teacher. Together we have two amazing children. Brenna graduated this past June and is volunteering for Americorps, and Padraic (Pado) is a Sophomore in high school.
I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelors of Science degree. I continued my educational training at Western Oregon State College, where I received my teaching credentials. In June 2004, I graduated with a Masters of the Arts in Educational Administration from the University of Phoenix.
I have had a myriad of experiences ranging from coaching football to teaching fifth grade history. Currently I am teaching seventh grade Geography and History and eighth grade U.S. History and Current Events. I also teach two electives: Creative Writing and American Novels.
One of the things I like to do when I am not teaching is travel. I spent seven years teaching in Tembagapura which is located in the mountains of Irian Jaya, Indonesia, (now called West Papua) which gave me the opportunity to see the world. I have visited Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Fiji, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, England, France, and of course, many parts of Indonesia. My favorite place, however, is Oregon. We are so fortunate to live in such a hospitable place. I continue to travel domestically and would love to hear from you about your travels. The previous summer I traveled with my wife to Boston and took a class on the presidents called Presidential History and Heritage, which took me all over the New England and the East coast. This past summer I took a group of 8th grade students to London, Paris, Brittany, Normandy and the Loire Valley in France.
